Interesting conference by AEI - focused on how districts can cut costs in the face of declining budgets and funds for public schools. Definitely a conservative slant, as the panelists have little experience as teachers or principals. Also, most of the folks from the Boston Consulting Group come from business, again with little experience actually working in districts or with schools.
The discussion and article by the Arlington MA superintendent seems to be more of a case of how NOT to go about district improvement.
Good selection of articles and powerpoints.
